Quality Management in Radiology: New Classification and Evaluation System in the RIS Workflow

medavis presents a new quality management tool at the European Congress of Radiology

Karlsruhe, 23 February 2009 – medavis presents its product range around the radiology information system medavis RIS at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and introduces new solutions for improving working processes in radiology clinics. One of the main themes this year is quality management and with the classification module, medavis is exhibiting a new evaluation system for the RIS workflow. The classification enables the physician to categorise medical reports and to evaluate them by severity, required time and further medical parameters. This generates valuable key figures for quality control, error sources are easier to detect and processes are continuously improved.

At the same time, the workflow is very straightforward. The classification function is directly integrated into the RIS workflow and can, in principle, be utilised at any stage of work. After completing a report, the user is able to select an evaluation level from a list of suggestions. This provides the physician with a full overview at all times and the ability to react in a targeted way, obtain second opinions in complicated cases and record comments. Furthermore, the classification enables a simple analysis of the data and the generation of the corresponding statistics as a part of quality control.

“The continuous improvement of the efficiency and quality of the patient treatment is a serious concern for us” said Elmar Kußmaul, Managing Director of medavis GmbH. “With the classification module we are providing a further contribution to quality control in radiology. The system was developed in close cooperation with our customers and is already successfully in operation.”

The software company from Karlsruhe will debut this new feature at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), which takes place from 6th to 10th of March in Vienna, Austria (stand 13 in the extension Expo A).
