Web Server - medavis RIS in the Intranet

Application possibilities of the medavis Web Server

The medavis Web Server enables radiology departments interactive communication with their referrers, for example, in a hospital. The medavis Web Server is a communication medium between wards, or between you and your referrers.

The wards/referrers book examination orders via the medavis Web Server in the radiology department (in medavis RIS). The radiology department sends the examination results back to the wards. If there is a HIS-RIS-HIS link, the wards then have a complete radiology medical record electronically at their fingertips. If the necessary configuration has been made, you can send the radiological reports as digital dictation to wards before their final release, to optimize emergency care, for example.

Overview of the medavis Web Server

The medavis Web Server has a modular structure, as does medavis RIS. It consists of the basic installation and various modules. You can use these modules individually and independently of one another.

The basic installation comprises the setup of the medavis Web Server on your communication server, the access authorization from the workstations and the integrated internal Mail Program. Using the Mail Program, users of the medavis Web Server can send mails to medavis RIS users and vice versa. The users do not have to have access to both programs.

The integrated Mail Program provides the following functionalities:

  • Exchange of electronic mail with other medavis RIS and medavis Web users
  • Notification of new mails by optical signal
  • Sending of electronic mails to individual medavis RIS and medavis Web users as well as to user groups
  • Replying to, forwarding and deleting mails received

The following modules are available:

The radiological medical record provides your referrers/wards access with all information saved on a patient. This information comprises, for example, the patient's details, the examinations carried out as well as the corresponding reports.
If you are using a PACS, which has a suitable interface for calling up structured URLs, as well as medavis RIS and medavis Web, you can link directly to the PACS viewer from medavis Web and display the examination images for a report.
For selected referrers, you can also allow access to reports that you have not yet finalised. If your referrer has the right equipment, he can also listen to your digital dictation.

web_transmedavis Web Transport List

The transport list is a module that helps you determine which patients have to be transported to the radiology department within a specific period. You can display any period you want.

web_ordermedavis Web Appointment Request

Using this module, wards can book appointments in radiology or with other systems that support the IHE Interface. Examination orders can be made for all patients saved in the medavis RIS database. Once the patient has been selected, he can be assigned the examinations to be carried out from an examination list.
If you use this module together with the medavis Web Scheduler, your referrers/wards can first check the radiology workload in the Scheduler and then enter orders for free time slots.

web_schedmedavis Web Scheduler

Your referrers/wards receive read rights for the Scheduler in medavis RIS via the medavis Web Scheduler. Your referrers can see at a glance the scheduling and utilisation of individual rooms and take this into account when requesting appointments.
The Scheduler view can be configured individually for each Web user. You can define whether a user may see all appointments in plaintext or whether the appointments should be displayed anonymized. You can also restrict a user's access rights to specific rooms.
If required, you can group rooms together which a user can then view in the Scheduler at the press of a button.

Data Security in the Web

The medavis Web Server offers you numerous ways of sending data not only via a secure connection, but also of restricting the access possibilities of individual Web users to specific data that is relevant to him.
Here are the options in detail:

  • Transfer of all data via https A connection via HTTPS is made simply by specifying https:// in the address line in the browser as protocol for the connection, for example, instead of http://. The connection is then made with another port and the data transferred using a security protocol, in this case via SSL (Secure Socket Layer).

  • Referrer-specific access rights You can restrict the access rights of each medavis Web user to specific referrers. The respective user then only has access to patients' data which have been referred to the radiology department by an assigned referrer.

  • Anonymized appointment display/User-specific room assignment The medavis Web Server lets you define for each user whether appointments in the Scheduler should be displayed normally with the appointment details, or whether they should be displayed anonymized.
If the appointment display is anonymized, the Web user just sees that the room is occupied. The start and end time of the appointment are also displayed. Patient and examination details are not shown.

  • Automatic logout after 15 minutes inactivity Each user who is logged onto the medavis Web Server, and hasn't carried out any activity for more than 15 minutes, is logged off automatically. This guarantees that no-one can access the data in medavis Web if you have left your workstation and forgotten to log out of medavis Web.
